netball game: round one
Hoooooly shit we WON!!!!!!!! It was great :)
I can't go on about how great the game was without talking about my absoute uncertainty regarding the whole thing. It was.... dang. I was not feeling great. If we want to go further, I definitely think I could have played a lot better. But considering I felt horrible in the morning, everything went quite well.
The score ended up being 17-36. Our best quarter was definitely the second- that was when we really got going and apparently our goal attack had like an 8 goal streak lololol
I played Centre in the first and third quarters, Wing Attack in the second and rested in the fourth. This is something we can do now because we have 9 players :) I played pretty well from the get-go, but alas, the fact that have not-great stamina remains and I had a stitch by half-time :) I'm okay now (writing this the next day because of busyness lol) but the hours after were like aghhh my feeeet hurt and my hip and aaaaaaaaa
All the teams in our club won, which is very cool! we are a pretty small club especially compared to others but HEY we won and that is a good start for many more wins to come!
On to next week. I think we played quite well considering where we were at last year, though there will still be places to improve. For one, I think I need to position myself better when the ball comes out of our defensive third- both in terms of being a Centre and as a Wing Attack. It begins with positioning, then leads, then leads after that, creating a chain of passes so seamless the opposition can't catch up. I say catch up, not on, because eventually someone will learn the strategy. Spontaneousness is still vital. Clearly. You can't just plan everything to the letter.
But you can do something. And something is generally better than nothing.
