I have so much work to do [26/02/2024]
SACs coming up, tests this week, netball on the weekend, etc etc. But here's the school stuff.
1/2 - Ministry
Prayer, went over some of the stuff we did on Friday about the nature and purpose of religion. I am not a fan of how there is no definite answer, but I am also not a fan of society + religion anyways. I like the spiritual stuff, but I don't enjoy what's been done in the name of religion. Etc etc. You'll hear a lot of this this year.
After that we started on our first Outcome (because apparently this course includes VCE Unit 1 Religion (i don't know what it's actually called) which is also called The Nature and Purpose of Religion. It's kinda just religion around the world, how it got there, why it got there, why it still exists, etc etc. We started on the 9 Aspects of religion. From memory: Texts, Sacred Texts, Symbols, Social Structures, Places/Times/Objects/Spaces of Importance, Rituals, Beliefs........ lemme have a look.
Ah, right. Ethics and Spiritual Experiences. It's also Sacred Stories, not Sacred Texts.
That'll take us into our first SAC, which is a research project of sorts where you pick a religion and one of things you have to do it identify its versions of these aspects. I think our teacher said it might not have all of them, but it'll have quite a few. Hooray!
3/4 - Modern History
Gotta love asking literally Communism its opinions on Taylor Swift.
That's basically what we did lol. No notes, no videos, just our teacher and us talking about communism and socialism (and in comparison, liberalism!) while our teacher drew up all our ideas on the white board. He had a history conference on Friday and they were talking about this AI program which pretended to be different ideologies.
First, we talked to Liberalism. Liberalism is basically communism's polar opposite- right to private property, personal rights + freedoms, market economy, etc. We asked liberalism about its opinion on communism, and it somehow didn't go full sicko mode. Good on that bot. We then asked liberalism to shit on itself (talk about its weaknesses) and because it's an AI and not a human being it took it perfectly fine. Like, it literally went 'liberalism can encourage social disparity' like YES THANK YOU THAT'S SUPER IMPORTANT and why we need to make sure that Morals Are Valued In Society or whatever.
Then we talked to Communism. We asked communism about religion, and it told us that religion in a communist society really depends on the government. Because true communism is yet to be achieved, and probably won't be achieved at this rate because greed. It also noted that most communist societies would likely either be like 'no religion your religion is the state' or the same but you were allowed to practice in private. Stuff like that. And then, obviously, we asked communism its opinions on Taylor Swift. (it said that while communism doesn't comment on celebrities, these celebrities (like Swift) have used their platform to promote economic and social issues similar to what communism promote. so. taylor swift = communism? no. taylor swift + #### = communism? maybe.)
5/6 - Maths Methods
Did revision and worded equations. Enough said.
like genuinely i am very Unconfident. okay i am a bit confident. It's not like I don't understand it. I understand the concepts. I just struggle to execute them properly. And I am not a big fractions enjoyer. I can do fractions. Mostly. Doesn't mean I enjoy the mthough dvsghajsk>
